The Art of Gathering - a digital 6 week course by Priya Parker

I heard about Priya Parker via an interview with Brene Brown; ended up reading her book The Art of Gathering. Hearing that she is about to launch a 6 week course on how to set up effective gatherings is something many of us may be interested in.

Interview here ->  https://brenebrown.com/podcast/brene-with-priya-parker-on-the-art-of-gathering/

From Priya's newsletter, the info on her new course:

"Friends,

This little dream of mine has been in the works for more than three years. I am absolutely thrilled to announce The Art of Gathering Digital Course — my brand new six-week learning experience to help you design and host intentional gatherings with and for your people. The Spring session begins on May 16. (Doing a little dance in my chair as I write this to you!)

Whether you’re scheming your next great event, special occasion, meeting, or party we’ll explore the question: “How can we do this differently?”
Gatherings play a large role in our lives. The comings together of friends, family, and co-workers have the potential to change the way we connect, the way we understand one another, and the way we live.

Across six weeks, I’m going to guide you through the six core elements of artful gathering to help you reimagine and design how you bring your people together. Your registration includes weekly digestible pre-recorded lessons, exercises, case studies, and a wealth of supporting resources. We have been hard at work behind the scenes and I am so excited to finally open the doors.

It’s important for me to connect with you through this experience. For our first Spring session, seats are limited, and I’ll be joining you for LIVE office hours each week. During this time, I’ll address common group questions and offer feedback in order to help you go deeper with the content and exercises.

Sign-up today and join me as we begin to reshape how we come together, one gathering at a time.

Use of the #FranklinCAN hashtag is growing

The use of the #FranklinCAN hashtag is growing!

  • HMEA is using it for their June 12 incredABLE day = #FranklinCANBeincredABLE
  • The Empty Bowls event is using it = #FranklinCANFillEmptyBowls

There was a write up in the Franklin Town Online news sharing what we have posted here previously to help spread the word. Direct link to PDF of the April edition -> https://locable-assets-production.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/resource/file/909619/2022_04_franklin.pdf

Two things remain to be acted upon!

  1. As your organization's social media account sees a posting with the #FranklinCAN hashtag, please share it
  2. Consider how your organization can use the hashtag to help spread the word on your work, event, etc.

How to use #FranklinCAN(fill in the blank)

Franklin is a caring community. It has been known to come out, to show up, to support when needed. Time, and time again.

Members of the Franklin Area Nonprofit Network (FANN) need to take advantage of this to accomplish what each organization is focused on. The FANN will help in that effort.

#Franklin community action now (CAN) is a simple way for all nonprofits to help each other spread the work on each other's fund raising efforts, events, etc.

  1. When community action is needed, your organization can plan accordingly. Devise whatever is required for fund raising, collection, pick up, etc.
  2. As you communicate to your followers, send the event, or action to the FANN. We'll put it on the calendar
  3. As you create your social media campaign, figure out how to add #FranklinCAN (fillin the blanks) to your social posts. What (fill in the blank) makes sense for this event, action, etc for you/your organization
  4. Mark your social media communications with the hashtag #FranklinCAN(fill in the blank)
  5. FANN members can set up a Google alert for #FranklinCAN to find out what is happening
  6. The FANN and other members can share that hashtag to help spread the word on your effort

So easy!

You do what you need to do and with the #FranklinCAN(fill in the blank) hashtag, the FANN can help spread the word to make your event or effort more successful.

Some examples might be

#FranklinCANpickup

#FranklinCANfundraise

#FranklinCANsupport

#FranklinCAN(fill in the blank)

How can the community help you? #FranklinCAN

What connection does Icelandic hotdogs have with the FANN?

Steve Sherlock will own up to this one. He had the opportunity to take a trip around the Ring Road of Iceland during August 2021. Yes, during the pandemic, it almost didn’t happen and they were quite grateful that it did. The full story of the trip will be told another time. He will elaborate on how hotdogs do connect to the Franklin Area Nonprofit Network and the Community Action Now hashtag.

For those that miss the meeting, there will be a recap. For those who can make it, hopefully you will appreciate the connection!
